החל ב 26 ביולי 2023, חלק הכתיבה של מבחן טופל יכלול משימת כתיבה חדשה המכונה “Writing for an Academic Discussion” אשר תחליף את משימת חיבור הדעה ז"ל.
במשימה הזו יהיו לכם עשר דקות בלבד(!) כדי לקרוא את השאלה, לתכנן, לכתוב ולערוך תשובה בהקף של למעלה ממאה מילים. שאלוהים יעזור לנו. כלומר, הנה דוגמה לשאלה ולתשובה שכתבתי, ומספר דגשים חשובים שלי למשימה הזאת.
ונתחיל מהשאלה עצמה:
Your professor is teaching a class on sociology. Write a post responding to the professor's question. In your response, you should do the following.
Express and support your opinion. Make a contribution to the discussion in your own words. An effective response will contain at least 100 words.

Let's think about population trends in urban and rural areas (villages). Living in urban areas can be expensive; nonetheless, when they have a choice of where to live, people in some countries do not wish to live in rural areas even if the cost of living there is lower. If governments of some countries want to attract more people to live in rural areas or villages, what is the best strategy or approach that governments can use? Why?

In my country, urban centers are great places to live because you can access shops, restaurants, and museums. If the government of my country wanted to attract me to live in a rural area, the area would first have to attract more businesses focused on entertainment and culture than most rural areas have now.

כל הסיפור עד כאן אמור לקחת לכם דקה עד דקה וחצי מתוך העשר. עוד חצי דקה עד דקה אתם צריכים עכשיו כדי לתכנן תשובה - אל תתחילו לכתוב לפני כן כי חבל על הציון שלכם. אני למשל חשבתי על הנושא והדבר הראשון שעלה בדעתי היה "למה בכלל שממשלות ירצו לשלוח אנשים לכפר" ואז הוספתי וחשבתי "אם כבר לחיות בכפר, אז שתהיה תחבורה ציבורית יעילה לעיר." וזהו, יצאתי לדרך עם התשובה שלי והנה היא:
In my view, there is no reason for governments to want to send people back to rural area. Urbanization happens for a reason - the ever expanding population of our planet needs to make do with a depleting amount of resources, so sharing resources in big cities is the only way to sustain those figures. However, if, for some reason, a government insists on convincing people to move to the country, I believe that the most important aspect to improve is public transportation. With a good infrastructure for public transport, people can live in the countryside and enjoy the quiet and relatively law housing costs, while still being able to commute to work or to travel for leisure purposes in the city. Without good ways to travel to and from the city, there is no way to make a large number of people leave the convenience of the metropolitan. In this sense, I disagree with both Claire and Kelly - only relatively few people would become farmers out of the blue, and the lack of entertainment is not a problem for most residents of rural areas, since they like the quiet.
